Abstract

A method is presented which enables ignition in exothermic systems to be studied under high pressure and temperature. Experimental details are given for pressures up to 4 kbar and temperatures up to 2000 K. The technique applied to aqueous hydrazine mononitrate had a temperature limit of 830 K and produced different kinetic data for the two methods of analysis used. The extrapolated rates do, however, bracket that estimated from detonation experiments.
