Summary
The German activities on photovoltaic research for terrestrial applications are part of a comprehensive programme for the utilisation of solar energy. The points of major interest are:
-
research and development of Si-cells: production methods of the base material, material research, cell and panel technology
-
establishment of a production line for generators with polycristalline Si-cells having a capacity of 1.5 MW/a
-
a programme to study the material properties of amorphous semi-conductors on Si-basis and the properties of amorphous Si-cells
-
thin film solar cells, especially Cu2S-CdS cells
-
systematic research on a lot of novel solar cell materials
-
field tests of solar generators for different applications and under different environmental and climatic conditions.
