Abstract
Once the significance of cholescintigraphy with Ida-derivatives has been documented in a large number of publications, mostly from European sources, a discussion arose concerning the differential diagnosis of parenchymal and obstructive jaundice. A further question requiring clarification was the identification of the optimal Ida-derivative. In this respect several groups of investigators (1,5) performed animal experiments to check on the relevance of hepatobiliary functional scintigraphy in clearly defined and morphologically controlable disease patterns such as liver parenchymal damage and obstructive jaundice.
