Premature obstruction of the foramen ovale inevitably leads to right heart failure and imposes serious problems on the fetal circulation. It may cause fetal hydrops of the upper part of the body, universal hydrops and fetal death. The diagnosis of this disease in utero has not been reported previously in the literature.
