Abstract
The disclosure of allergic factors in the etiology of recurrent bronchitis may be difficult in infants (children under the age of 2 years) and preschool children (in this study children at the age of 2 to 6 years) because at this age often no acceptable results are obtained by skin tests and provocation tests (ref. 5). The RadioAllergoSorbent Test (RAST), however, as an in-vitro test determines the level of allergen-specific antibodies of the IgE class in plasma or serum and thus reveals to what extent the pathogenesis of recurrent bronchitis includes allergic reactions mediated by such antibodies.
