Abstract
In spite of the great amount of physiological and diagnostic information available in Doppler non-invasive evaluation of the circulation, the use of Doppler has spread slowly within the medical field. Only a few physicians willing to learn the necessary skills and understand its basic physiological principles have benefited from its availability. Undoubtedly the limitations for many is related to the difficulties in understanding the audio presentation of the findings when most physicians are visually oriented. As a parallel example, audio information such as auscultation of the heart has traditionally been regarded as’ soft’ information and has been difficult to teach.
