Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present nonlinear econometric models of producer and consumer behavior suitable for incorporation into a general equilibrium model of the U.S. economy. General equilibrium modeling originated with the seminal work of Leontief [50], based on empirical implementation of a static input-output model for the U.S. economy. Leontief [51] gave a further impetus to the development of general equilibrium modeling by introducing a dynamic input-output model.
