High Velocity Gas in Molecular Clouds

Abstract

A new source of high velocity molecular gas to the south of the HII region NGC 2068 (M78) near the Herbig-Haro objects HH 25–26 is reported. The redshifted and blueshifted CO wings seen in this region are spatially separated indicating that this is another region of bi-polar mass outflow from a young stellar object. We compare this region to the other known regions of bi-polar mass outflow and discuss the implications of these energetic outflows.
