Abstract

Although cardiac conditions in children are relatively uncommon, they do engender much concern, and the paediatrician’s time is spent in seeing either those with genuine cardiac conditions or those who have been referred as they have been discovered to have a heart murmur. Paediatric cardiology is very much a specialist entity and so most schildren with recognized cardiac disease are usually under the care of a paediatric cardiologist. It is proposed to deal only with the more common conditions that are encountered.
