Group V Atom NMR Spectroscopy Other than Nitrogen

  • Chapter
The Multinuclear Approach to NMR Spectroscopy

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 103))

Abstract

Primary dependence of nuclear shielding on oxidation state observed throughout the earlier Periodic Groups is not evident in Group V. Symmetry considerations related to the lower oxidation state lone pair do, however, affect the spectroscopies of the quadrupolar 75As and 121Sb. Reversal effects in 75As shielding upon methyl substitution are remarked. The precision of the pairwise additive model for 121Sb shieldings is used to assign cis isomers in the SbClnBr6−n system.
