Abstract
The introduction of nuclear energy in Europe has considerably remained behind predictions made 10 years ago.
But even the revised, more cautious predictions indicate that the installed generating capacity inside the European Community will double over the next five years.
Among the numerous tools available to the underlying R&D programmes, neutron radiography has acquired a solid position as an inexpensive, flexible, and reliable non-destructive testing method.
Nearly all European neutron radiography installations are based at government-cwned research centres, with a majority using reactor beams. Nuclear industries operate mainly as co-Sponsors of R&D programmes using these installations.
