Abstract
The last ten years have seen the beginnings of systematic research (Gasparski, and Strzałecki, 1979) whose results have come to shape a general design theory. The theory deserves being called praxiological, and that for three reasons. Firstly, because in it the process of designing is analysed from the methodological point of view, and praxiology, as created by Tadeusz Kotarbiński (1938), is general methodology. Secondly, because methodological analysis is used to discover conditions that make for efficiency in design-making procedures. Thirdly, because the subject matter of designing is analysed in the context of actions that combine to form the art of praxis. The concept of designing is understood here as a procedure intended conceptually to prepare a change and consisting in solving non-trivial practical problems.
