Abstract

It has long been known that radiation therapy can relieve the symptoms and signs of meningeal leukemia. Decades ago, remissions were short lived when low doses (e.g., about 450 rad) were employed; in any case, survival was poor because of high bone marrow relapse rates (1). This discussion will concentrate on the therapy of CNS leukemia in the modern era of successful chemotherapy for acute leukemia in childhood.
