Abstract

A non-toxic goiter is defined as an enlargement of the thyroid gland which is not due to thyroiditis or malignancy, maintaining an euthyroid hormone status (41).

This work was supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

The cooperation of Prof. C.R.Pickardt,M.D., and R.Kantlehner,Ph.D. and the technical assistance of Mrs. L.Segnitz and Mrs. H.Colling are gratefully acknowledged.
