Abstract

Distention of the uterine cavity can be achieved using liquids or CO2. In our opinion, CO2 is the preferred distention medium for the following reasons: (1) the quality of the images is better than with other media, (2) distention with CO2 is a clean and fast operation, (3) CO2 is a physiologic gas to which there are no allergic reactions, and (4) as a dry medium, CO2 allows the options of mucus analysis and various procedures of endometrial staining 1-4.
