Drug bioavailability in the developing ruminant

  • Chapter
Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology

Abstract

Respiratory and gastrointestinal infections as well as systemic infections are common in newborn and developing animals. In fact, immunodeficiency makes the young animal more susceptible to disease, so there is often a need for drug administration in the newborn and the young animal. Antibiotics and chemotherapeutics will often have to be given.
