Ischaemic Colitis

Abstract

The more frequent occurrence of ischaemic colitis in older patients may be correlated with the increased incidence of atherosclerotic vasculopathy, progressive peripheral arterial insufficiency, tortuosity of the intramural blood vessels of the colon and diminishing cardiac function (Aboumrad et al., 1963; Ambruoso and Feraru, 1967; Détry et al., 1979).
