Abstract

During the last two decades there have been great advances in our understanding of fetal and neonatal thyroid function. This information has played a vital role in the development of screening methods for congenital hypothyroidism and will be reviewed briefly before the pathogenesis and prognosis in congenital hypothyroidism are considered.
