Abstract
-
To describe the principle of pulse amplitude modulation (PAM).
-
To introduce the concept of sampling, show its relation to PAM and state the sampling theorem.
-
To explain what is meant by aliassing distortion and how it can arise.
-
To note briefly other pulse modulation schemes: pulse frequency modulation (PFM), pulse position modulation (PPM), pulse width modulation (PWM).
-
To introduce the concept of time-division multiplexing (TDM).
