Abstract

The purpose of this book is to illustrate the richness of research in “energy geography”, a field that investigates the spatial implications of energy. While most of the contributors in energy geography are trained as human geographers there has been quite a large amount of research on the geographical aspects of energy problems undertaken by regional scientists economists, behavioral scientists, physical scientists and many others. While this breadth increases the range of topics available for study, it is often confusing to outsiders who may argue that energy geography does not have an exclusive research domain, or that it does not contribute to important public policy formulation.
