Abstract
Hartshorne’s reformulation of the way we should speak of God’s power is probably best discussed in the context of “creativity”, a metaphysical description of the workings of reality. Creativity is a fundamental idea in Hartshorne’s metaphysics. The importance that he gives to this category can be appreciated from the fact that he has felt it necessary to start CSPM (which he regards as the nearly definitive statement of his metaphysical position) with a discussion of this idea.1 It is put forward here not necessarily as a valid interpretation of reality but as an aid to understanding Hartshorne’s position vis-à-vis God’s power.
