Abstract
The diagnostic applicability of regional lung ventilation could be greatly extended if a suitable radioactive aerosol were readily available. The radioactive gases in use for ventilation studies, Kr81m and Xe127, are both expensive and not available on a daily basis, aerosol preparations on the other hand so far suffered from polydisperse size-distribution, aggregation and inadequate application procedures.
