Abstract
Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), the first lymphokine ever described (1, 2) has been defined by its bioassay, that is the inhibition of random migration of macrophages. A relationship of this biological activities to others, such as interferons (3) and macrophage activating factors (4) has been proposed, yet without formal proof.
