Abstract
Following a successful orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) various graft syndromes may beset an uneventful follow-up. The major syndromes include episodes of acute graft rejection, viral infection with graft involvement, bacterial infection with liver abcess formation or bacterial cholangitis, obstructed bile flow in the large bile ducts, an impaired blood supply of the graft, drug reactions in the graft and chronic graft rejection. Rejection phenomena and infections of the graft being the main topics in this chapter, the other conditions will only be mentioned in relation to differential diagnostic and pathogenetic problems.
