Abstract
The IUE satellite, which is now completing its eighth year of successful operation, has brought us interesting and unexpected information on the UV energy distribution of early-type galaxies. Almost fourty ellipticals or bulge dominated disk galaxies have been so far studied, in most cases both in the short (1150 A – 2000 A) and in the long (1800 A – 3200 A) wavelength range. The observed objects are listed in Table I.
