Abstract
This case is a little different from the rest. It does not examine a specific request for information, but represents a summary of why and how we went about building computer-based information systems. This story extends over the entire period of our work with the school district. It describes our attempts to be more responsive to district requests for information through the establishment of computer files that would facilitate our ability to work up data relevant to district policy questions and management needs. This case illustrates the general principles outlined in chapter 6.
