Abstract
The fabrication of parts from particle and chopped fiber filled plastics and elastomers is carried out by pumping, extrusion and molding of bulk polymer systems in a fluid state. A proper understanding of these processing operations requires a knowledge of the rheological properties of these systems. It is the purpose of this article to describe these rheological properties, the processing of compounds and their interrelationships.
