Fibres, Whiskers and Flakes for Composite Applications

  • Chapter
Mechanical Properties of Reinforced Thermoplastics

Abstract

In this chapter it is intended to examine the mechanical properties of some of the more widely used fibres in short fibre reinforced thermoplastics and to present in brief form the well-known theories associated with both short fibre and flake/ribbon reinforcements. It is hoped that this chapter together with the comprehensive list of references will give a thorough introduction to the subject of short fibre reinforced thermoplastics.
