Abstract

Although the etiology of multiple sclerosis (MS) is still obscure, epidemiological studies have shown a geographical distribution correlated to latitude, with three zones of high, medium and low frequency (Kurtzke, 1980). Italy, extending from 37° to 46° North latitude, lies just below the borderline between the first two zones.
