Abstract

BALANCE is a general-purpose program designed to generate linearly independent chemical reactions that define the chemical equilibrium of a particular system. In general, if there are C components and M elements, the number of independent reactions is given by R = C − M. For systems having more than three components and two elements, it becomes very difficult to determine the independent reactions that define the system. BALANCE helps you determine the independent reactions quickly and easily.
