Abstract
This paper describes some design concepts for exploration software regarding the special situations of German geological joint projects in developing countries. It will show that the hardware is (must be) of less importance than a powerful operating system, an easy to use but high leveled programming language and a well designed software toolbox. Starting from actual problems with existing hardware and software examples and their solutions, using the operating system EUMEL and the programming language ELAN, are discussed.
