Abstract

In order to detect favorable areas for mineral exploration, a Poisson regression model is applied to the number of the occurrences of mineral deposits and spatially overlapping geological attributes. We obtain the maximum likelihood estimator for this model which is identical to the estimator of the generalized linear model minimizing the deviance.
