Abstract
In this paper, the spatial pattern of massive sulfide deposits in the Bathurst area, New Brunswick, is studied by application of a Neyman-Scott cluster process model. Next, the relationship between youngest sheet and pillow flows, which host hydrothermal vents on the East Pacific Rise near 21 °N is considered in detail. Finally, the spatial cross-covariance function is derived for the more complex spatial patterns of acidic and mixed volcanic rocks in the Tetagouche Group of Middle-Late Ordovician age which contains the massive sulfide deposits in the Bathurst area, New Brunswick. The purpose of these case studies is to help determine how geostatistical methods can be used to model the variances and covariances of parameters quantified for patterns of mineral deposits and their environments.
