Abstract

Polyelectrolyte solutions have been examined by neutron scattering experiments in order to determine separately the polyion interference term and the polyion form factor. The results are used to test hypothesis on the strong persistence length decrease with concentration, predicted by the theory of Odijk. The concentration diffusion coefficient is calculated from the quasi-elastic scattering experiment: the data reveal the decrease of this coefficient with the wave vector, typical of ionic solutions. More characteristic is the mobility wave vector dependance, related to the existence of the persistence length.
