Abstract

Science certainly is in need of an alternative to the received view of science as value-free, but an alternative which does not imply the other extreme of an ideologically partisan science. This holds especially for the social sciences. The present contribution will introduce the concept of a “value-conscious social science”, and elaborate and defend it in five sections.
