Abstract
Two instruments are being used to answer the question whether the problem area of DSS can be regarded as a discipline. These instruments are: a worldview and a construct paradigm. The construct paradigm is related to the model building process as used in DSS. After applying both instruments, we have come to the conclusion that the problem area of DSS cannot be regarded as a discipline. A conclusion that is valid for nearly all fields studying parts of organizational processes. Suggestions are given how to define the process of decision-making as a separate field of study.
