Abstract

Though it would seem to the casual observer that sex therapy is something peculiar to the last half of the twentieth century, it has existed as long as recorded history. One of the earliest historical records we have deals with the modern problems of impotence. A whole series of surviving clay tablets from the Tigris-Euphrates Valley has been labelled the potency incantations and were to be used primarily with the problems of the flaccid penis, an issue of concern to therapists today.
