Abstract

The endoscopic evaluation and treatment of patients presenting with diseases of the liver and pancreas has gained considerable attention since the introduction of Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography [ERCP], sphincterotomy and placement of endoprostheses for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of these organ systems [1–16]. Early utilization of ERCP for the management of patients with these disorders is increasing in most medical centers throughout the world.
