Abstract
The somatic responses to emotional stress are varied and related to reactions of the autonomic nervous system as well as to reactions of the endocrine system (1,2). Our team has been working on the influence of stress on circadian rhythm, basal metabolism, respiration, muscular tone and circulatory regulation (3–5). The following is confined to four aspects of the circulatory regulation: 1. The blood pressure (BP) reactivity and essential hypertension. 2. The adaptation and the therapeutic influences on BP reactivity. 3. The stimulus specifity in cardiovascular reactions to noise. 4. The sex specifity in BP regulation.
