Abstract
Two recent developments of scientific research and corporate strategy are revolutionizing trade relations worldwide. The first is the simulation and standardization of thought processes currently being researched in Japan and the United States. The second is the networking phenomenon analyzed by Leveson and Bressand and discussed in the previous chapter. Although both developments are fairly recent and might therefore be considered to exert little impact on trade patterns, it would be an oversimplification to say that analyzing their consequences at this time is a purely futuristic exercise.
