Abstract
Vertebrates fulfil a number of important roles in maintaining the ecological balance of forest ecosystems. They serve as pollinators, predators, decomposers, grazers, and are prey for other vertebrates. In any one ecosystem a dynamic form of stability is retained by maintaining numbers of all vertebrate fauna groups within specific, but usually unknown limits.
