Metal Oxides Sensitized Photooxidations in Heterogeneous and Homogeneous Systems. I. Initial Photodehydrogenations of Isopropanol and Cyclobutanol
Suspension of finely divided powders of ZnO or TiO2 have been utilised as photosensitizers in studying the initial stages of photodehydrogenation (−H2)* of 0.02 M aqueous solutions of isopropanol and cyclobutanol in heterogeneous conditions. For studies of (−H2)* in homogeneous 0.02 M aqueous solutions of the alcohols, the metal-oxide-type photosensitizer utilised was dissolved uranyl ion UO 2 2+ .
