Abstract

Israel and North Sinai are situated at the southeast corner of the Mediterranean Sea beside the Levantine Basin. Their shores form a gentle curve from an east to west direction in North Sinai to almost north in Israel (Fig. 1). The Israeli shoreline from Rosh Hanigra in the north to the Sinai border and the shoreline in northern Sinai from Rafah to Port Said are each about 220 km in length.
