Effects of Dynamic and Static Loading on Compaction of Structured Soils

Abstract

In situ pressure transmission measurements show that at the same axle Toad but increasing contact area, stresses are reduced in the topsoil by using terra tires compared to conventional tires. In the subsoil differences become smaller. Stresses are transmitted to greater depth with increasing time of loading. But even at short loading times soil strength is increased in soils with low hydraulic conductivity as well as in structured soils. Soil strength was predicted by multiple regression analysis. Precision of the prediction was increased significantly by including shearing-resistance parameters as independent variables.
