Monte Carlo Simulation of H2 Formation by Cosmic Rays: Effect of the Grain Model

Abstract

It is considered the synthesis of molecular hydrogen induced in the icy mantles of interstellar grains by cosmic rays as due to the recombination of radicals created by the energy loss of the impinging ions. It is in particular investigated, by means of a Monte Carlo simulation, the relevance of the model of grains adopted. Some preliminary results are given.
