Fractal Characterization of Intertropical Precipitations Variability and Anisotropy

  • Chapter
Non-Linear Variability in Geophysics

Abstract

Burkina Faso rainfall study (1986 June 12–13) conducted over 10,000 km2 thanks to 111 raingauges. Multifractal nature of the precipitation is shown. Variability and anisotropy of the rainfield is characterized by fractal parameters.
