Abstract
To speak about the individual in the research system is an impossible task. Either this mysterious creature is a mystical being, existing only in nostalgic fairy tales, or it is a statistical aggregate, reflecting after disaggregation positions and other distinctions of stratification in hierarchical structures. A third possibility is the exemplary individual, whose biographical (or autobiographical) traits are held up to the rest of us, even though they are not very representative.
