Abstract
Beach and near-shore changes during the 1944–1986 period along a 80 km stretch of coast in NW Denmark were measured on sequential air-photos and by repeated echo sounding. The study area showed an overall sediment deficit with a trend towards a positive sediment budget in the NE part of the area. Dune foot and water line showed similar behaviour throughout the study area with maximum erosion central in bays and maximum accumulation on NW parts of headlands. Apparently, this is a response to a changing wind regime with the predominant wind moving from W towards NW. Areas with accumulation had a decrease in longshore sediment transport under the new wind regime whereas areas with erosion have an increase in longshore sediment transport.
