Abstract
In Papua New Guinea (PNG) protein-energy malnutrition has usually been assessed by comparing attained growth with international growth standards, the most commonly used of which have been the Harvard Standards [1]. Within health, emphasis is on children under 5 years of age and those under 80% weight-for-age (W/A) are defined as malnourished.
