Abstract

Modern psychology, it is frequently said, was born as a natural science after delivering itself from the domination of philosophy. It is also true that the real complexities of the schools, lines of thought, and tendencies that exist in our time are by no means represented by such a simple statement, nor is its content applied with equal suitability to the historical development of the European tradition, Soviet psychology, and the Anglo-American line of thought.
